圣誕節(jié)的來(lái)歷
圣誕節(jié)這個(gè)名稱是基督彌撒的縮寫(xiě)。彌撒是教會(huì)的一種禮拜儀式。耶誕節(jié)是一個(gè)宗節(jié)我們把它當(dāng)作耶蘇的誕辰來(lái)慶祝，因而又名耶誕節(jié)。據(jù)說(shuō)：第一個(gè)圣誕節(jié)是在公元138年，由羅馬主教圣克里門倡議舉行。而教會(huì)史載第一個(gè)圣誕節(jié)則在公元336年。由于圣經(jīng)未明記耶穌生于何時(shí)，故各地圣誕節(jié)日期各異。直到公元440年，才由羅馬教廷定12月25日為圣誕節(jié)。
圣誕節(jié)是基督教世界最大的節(jié)日。教會(huì)開(kāi)始并無(wú)圣誕節(jié)，約在耶穌升天后百余年內(nèi)才有。公元1607年，世界各地教會(huì)領(lǐng)袖在伯利恒聚會(huì)，進(jìn)一步予以確定，從此世界大多數(shù)的基督徒均以12月25日為圣誕節(jié)。據(jù)基督教徒的圣書(shū)《圣經(jīng)》記載，上帝決定讓他的獨(dú)生子耶穌基督投生人間，找個(gè)母親，然后就在人間生活，以便人們能更好地了解上帝、學(xué)習(xí)熱愛(ài)上帝和更好地相互熱愛(ài)�！笆フQ節(jié)”的意思是“慶祝基督”。

In the earlier times, when Christians were persecuted, they were not allowed to practice prayers. Hence, a single candle used to be placed outside the house as a sign that Christian prayers were being conducted inside.
